CSC's Domain Portfolio Consolidation provides a fast, efficient way to manage all your domains in one place

Having domain names with multiple vendors is a challenge for brand owners. Firstly, you have to deal with each vendor, their own systems and processes and raise multiple purchase orders. This can be made more complicated by having to manage your company’s domains across different business units and departments.

Additionally there are external factors such as new domain launches, increased usage of the Internet and an increase of domain name infringement. All of these factors increase the time, risk and costs associated with managing your domain portfolio.

Why consolidate to one Vendor?

There are a number of reasons why consolidating to one vendor is the most cost-effective strategic decision.

  1. Reducing Costs
  2. Reducing Time

CSC’s Domain Portfolio Consolidation provides a fast, efficient way to manage all your domains in one place

DNS (Domain Name System) failure is one of the most common causes of web site and email outages. When it is running smoothly, DNS can remain a technical consideration; however, when problems occur, all departments will be affected and DNS will become a core business consideration. Is your DNS solution reliable? Don’t wait for problems to occur before you ask this question: it will cost your business time and money.

Developing an effective two-tier DNS strategy

CSC recognizes that, while some domains are used for business purposes, most are registered for defensive reasons, and has built a DNS infrastructure that supports two different levels of service (Premium and Basic) at two different price points for maximum cost-effectiveness.

Communicate globally with Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs)

With over half a billion Internet users who do not speak English, IDNs will become more important than ever. IDNs are domain names that contain non-ASCII characters, which essentially means any letters that are not in the English alphabet. Examples include bücher.de and músicagratis.com. Already introduced in China, IDNs can go one step further and contain non- Latin characters before and after the dot. For example, asian characters. gTLDs and ccTLDs increasingly support IDNs, for example 26% of domains registered under .jp are already IDNs.1

Register and Manage IDNs with IDN Converter and Name Console 2.0

In order to register IDNs, they first need to be converted to “punycode”, which only contains ASCII (Latin) characters. The Domain Name System (DNS) only recognizes ASCII domain names. CSC’s IDN Converter is a tool that converts your IDNs to punycode, so that they can be registered. For example, bücher.de becomes xn--bcher-kva.de. This punycode string can then be registered as a domain name. CSC’s IDN Converter can even be used to convert IDN.IDNs, such as asian characters. gTLDs and ccTLDs increasingly support IDNs and 26% of domains registered under .jp are already IDNs.1

Any IDN can be registered and managed through Name Console 2.0, our domain management portal.
