Dot ASIA Sunrise - Overview, Strategies & Best Practices
Format: Recorded seminar
Synopsis: If you have business interests in Asia or are considering expanding into Asian markets, this CSC Web Seminar Series will be the perfect opportunity to learn what you need to know about securing your corporate identity during the launch of the new .ASIA domain name extension commencing October 9, 2007.

Don't Lose Your Brand in an Auction!

The launch of this new domain name extension is expected to be particularly challenging for brand holders. For the first time, launch rules call for the online auction of names in situations where multiple parties with valid trademark rights have applied for the same .Asia domain name (potential example, abc.asia). Since virtually any nationally registered trademark is an eligible trademark for the .Asia pre-registration period reserved for those who have existing legal rights to a name (often referred to as the Sunrise Registration), competition among trademark holders and registered corporate entities will be fierce and only the fully informed will be in the best position to protect their corporate identity in this historic launch.

Important! To playback, users need to use a desktop with a soundcard.
Below are instructions on how to access the recorded version.

  1. Click here  to view the List of Events by Program.
  2. Click “View Event Recordings” at the top right corner.
  3. Select “Dot Asia Sunrise – Overview, Strategies & Best Practices.

  5. You will be required to complete a web form. Once all the required fields are completed, click the “submit” button at the bottom of the page.
  6. You will see a pop-up activating the WebEx playback applet and then the presentation will load.
  7. You will also see a control panel appear. Please make sure you unmute the volume to get the sound.
  8. Sit back, listen & learn.

With the October 30th deadline for trademark holders with registered trademarks applied for by March 16, 2004 fast approaching, you may want to let your customers/prospects know that this resource is now available. My experience tells me that many large companies have waited to the 11th hour and are now scrambling to get up to speed. Maybe you can save the day for them!

A Closer Look at the Pre-verification Process for .Asia
Format: Recorded seminar
Synopsis: During the launch of the .EU domain name extension, many established brand holders were unable to secure domain names during the trademark registration period, often referred to as Sunrise registration, because their trademark information was not presented in the very precise format required or failed to meet one of the eligibility criteria. This situation not only caused tremendous frustration, but also resulted in brand holders having to spend countless hours and budget dollars recovering key brand names from cybersquatters after the launch.

To avoid the perils of .EU, brand holders have the option during the launch of .Asia to submit their trademark information to Deloitte for Pre-verification to ensure they meet all the format and eligibility requirements prior to submitting their .Asia domain name application during Sunrise registration.
