What is RSS?

Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is an XML-based format for content distribution. RSS feeds allow you to have the latest news directly delivered to your desktop. RSS feeds are usually indicated by an orange button.

How to Access and View RSS Feeds?

There are a number of ways to access and view RSS feeds. You can install a newsreader that displays RSS feeds from the websites you select, allowing you to combine news feeds from several websites that are of interest to you. After installing the news reader, you can subscribe to the feeds in various ways after clicking on the orange “RSS button”. Depending on the news reader, you can drag the URL of the feed into your news reader or cut and paste the same URL into a new feed in your news reader.

An alternative to downloading a news reader is to use a web based reader. For example, Yahoo, Microsoft Live and AOL now allow users to add RSS feeds directly to their personal page.

Web

An alternative to downloading a news reader is to use a web based reader. For example, Yahoo, Microsoft Live and AOL now allow users to add RSS feeds directly to their personal page. In most cases, you register with username and password. You can then decide which feeds you wish to add. The site maintains your feeds in a database. Whenever you log on, you exclusively view your feeds.
